Montana Magic Statistics and History
The Montana Magic were a Minor Professional hockey team based in Billings, MT playing in the Central Hockey League for the 1983-84 season. The team played at the Metro Arena in Billings.
In April 1983, Larry Gordon, owner of the Wichita Wind franchise in the Central Hockey League, announced that his team would no longer play in that city due to a disagreement over leasing terms with the Kansas Coliseum. He instead moved his team to Billings, MT. After a name-the-team contest, the team was renamed the Montana Magic. Gordon later sold 40% of the franchise to the Erminsekin band of the Hobbema Indians, located near Edmonton.
The Magic struggled financially, and when the season ended, they folded.
