Lansing Lancers Statistics and History
The Lansing Lancers were a minor professional hockey team based in Lansing, Michigan playing in the International Hockey League in the 1974-75 season. They arrived in Lansing from Toledo, where they had played as the Toledo Hornets for the prior four seasons. Their owner, Paul Bright, said that he did not have confidence in the Toledo hockey market, so he decided to try a different city. Although there was talk of moving to Cascade, Michigan, the team wound up in Lansing.
The Lancers played in Lansing's Metro Ice Arena. The arena seated just 900 fans, however the team frequently drew less than 100 fans per game. In mid-January, the Lancers announced they were exploring a move to Grand Rapids, Michigan, however that deal fell through and the Lancers folded for good on January 15, 1975 due to lack of attendance.
