Hockey Card Checklists

You can view almost every hockey card set ever made here, classified by the type of set. The checklists are updated weekly, so these checklists are usually more up-to-date than those printed in books.
Major Releases This is where you will find the most common type of hockey card set, put out by major card manufacturers. All the big players are here -- Topps, Upper Deck, Parkhurst, Fleer, Donruss, and even In the Game, makers of the Be a Player brand.
Minor Pro Sets This is the fun area! You'll find checklists of professional minor league team sets here, most of which were issued by the teams themselves and are therefore hard to find. If you want a real challenge, try collecting minor league hockey. The cards may not be as snazzy as the major manufacturers' cards, but they are a lot more down to earth and most are perfect for autographs.
Junior Sets This is where you will find cards issued by junior teams. When a player is on a junior team he is typically between 16-20 years old, which means you have the opportunity to see your favorite star when he was just a kid! You'd be surprised at some of the bad haircut choices these guys made before they knew any better.
NHL team sets Many NHL teams make sets; some are postcard-sized, and others are the standard size. Most are very hard to come by -- they are usually only sold at games, or sometimes just given out to kids.
Food Sets This is a category of sets that stands by iteself; food sets. These are mostly made in Canada, and are released in conjunction with a food product such as Jello, or a business such as McDonald's. They differ from NHL team sets in that they contain players from many different teams.
College Sets College sets are some of the hardest sets around to find. The NCAA banned the sale of merchandise with player images on it in 1994, and since then the only way that teams could make sets are to give them away,
Draft Pick Sets In the early to mid 1990's, companies started putting out draft pick sets to capitalize on players who were drafted by NHL teams but were still playing in junior leagues. These sets never really caught on though, in many cases because the companies only signed deals with the players, not the leagues in which they played, which meant that the uniform designs often had to be airbrushed out.
European Sets I only have a few checklists of European sets; if you would like to contribute a complete checklist of a set please E-mail me with the information.
